Spaceport America Cup High power Team
The LRA enters the annual Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition's Spaceport America Cup with a newly designed and fabricated rocket each year. To get this rocket off the ground, a different subteam focuses on each aspect of the rocket's design. In the 2018-2019 school year, the LRA will have five subteams: flight systems, ground systems, propulsion, electronics, and experimental. If you would like to join one of these teams, you can attend LRA Day to explore what each team does, the go through the application and interview process.
Want to learn how to build your own rocket? In the Certification group, 12 students each semester get to design, build, and launch their own rockets. To learn more about what is involved in this process, attend LRA Day to receive the application!
Additionally, each year we participate in various other challenges. In the 2018-2019 school year, we will be entering the NASA Student Launch program, to launch a rocket and a scientific payload and face a technical critical design review process. You can join this team at any time, so please contact us if you are interested!
